TEHRAN (IQNA) – Pilgrimage and visiting the holy shrines of Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS), including the Arbaeen pilgrimage, should lead to following them and acting upon their teachings.

Arbaeen Pilgrimage Should Lead to Following Ahl-ul-Bayt’s Path

The Arbaeen supplication, which is read by pilgrims, includes a sentence in which the pilgrim bears witness to the fact that Imam Hussein (AS) is the Wali of God, His selected one and the son of His selected one. Hence, he shows his belief from the bottom of his heart.

Imam Hussein (AS) was one of the leaders and defenders of the truth and religion and an inheritor of the path of prophets and men of God, and these are among other themes of the Arbaeen Supplication.

Another theme in this supplication is offering the philosophies of the Ashura uprising. There have been different views on the objectives of the uprising but what mentioned in the Arbaeen supplication is saving the Muslim Ummah and awakening the Ummah.

Imam Hussein (AS) acted in such a way in reviving Islam and the Nabawi Sunnah that no room was left for any excuses.

Sometimes donating money is enough for reviving the society and upholding the truth, but there are times in which one should sacrifice his life on this path.

Imam Hussein (AS) did that as only his pure blood could bring about an earthquake in the pillars of the Umayyad rule and awaken people from the slumber of ignorance.

Later, the efforts made by Hazrat Zaynab (SA) and Imam Sajjad (AS) were also very effective and complementary in this regard.

Shedding light on the face of opponents is another theme of the supplication, which portrays the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS) as the manifestation of the hate and animosity of the enemies of Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS). The enemies sold their life in hereafter for this ephemeral world.

Another theme is Jihad on the path of God and remaining steadfast on fulfilling duty and continuing the struggle until martyrdom and even after that in the form of captivity and spreading the message of Ashura.

Imam Hussein (AS) was dear for God and the Holy Prophet (PBUH) but was surrounded by cowardly and unashamed people in a barren desert and he and his family and companions were denied water. What they did to Imam Hussein (AS) and his pure body was a Bida’a that happened in Karbala.

Another theme of the Arbaeen Supplication is giving insight to people about how important it is to live in dignity.

Imam Hussein (AS) said that death with dignity is much better than a life of humiliation.

Imam Hussein (AS) lived 67 years and his life was full of Hikma (wisdom), generosity, knowledge, and Hilm (patience). His martyrdom was also on the path of God.

In the Arbaeen Supplication, the pilgrim says he would sacrifice himself and his parents for Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS).
